Arch 521: Building Media VI

Workflows: History of Media and Technology

Workflows is an architecture media course focused on the history and philosophy of technics in the context of Building Information Modeling. Workflows are the space of contemplation afforded by the technical systems we use to produce architecture.

Technics and technological advancements do not depend on architecture. Historically, architecture has depended on technics to advance its own agenda. Continual indifference to the role that instruments play in the production of architecture – workflows – is an important disciplinary and professional blindspot. Arch 521 looks at the contemporary effects of this historical blindspot.
